It is said that creation is the first revelation of the divine. I find this idea - and the experience of being fully present in the natural world - to be inspiring. Literally. In the sense that being in the natural world allows me to take in a deep breath and be rejuvenated. So each day I spend time in the natural world. And I take my camera with me. Seeing the world through the lens of my camera (often adapted with a macro lens) has revealed unique and beautiful intricacies that I would miss if I were not intentional. Each day I feel like I receive gifts - sacred gifts - from the world around me. Beauty is one of these gifts. It comes in the form of a drop of rain precariously suspended on the tip of a leaf or a dandelion seed head full of delicate life or the brilliance of the color yellow. There is so much beauty in the world. My goal is to see it. To really see it. When I am not out among the trees, I can be found doing work that comes my way as a pastor, a spiritual director, a perpetual student and a writer. I share my life with my partner of almost 40 years, Les. He's a musician and a very kind soul. I also am graced to be the mom of two young women who are each making their way in the world with their own unique flair. And I am the caregiver and friend to a chicken named Ms. Frizzle. She brings a smile to my face and encourages me to laugh daily.
